Broken Link Checker
Scan a page for broken links and bad status codes. Find dead links that frustrate visitors and waste your crawl budget, then fix them fast.
Scanning the page…
Checking each link. This can take a few seconds.
How to use it
Enter a page address and run the scan. The tool fetches that page on our server, finds every link on it, and then checks each one to see whether it still works. To keep things fast and fair, it scans the links on that single page, up to the first 50.
Broken links are listed first, with the status code or the reason they failed, so you can see what needs fixing straight away. The working links are listed below them with their status, in case you want to double-check anything.
Broken links matter for two reasons. They send visitors to dead ends, which dents trust and costs you sales or enquiries. They also waste the time search engines spend crawling your site and can make it look poorly kept, which is not the impression you want to give Google.
When you find a broken link, fix the typo, point it at the correct live page, or remove it if the target is gone for good. For an important page that has been removed, set up a redirect to the closest relevant page so you keep both the visitor and any link value.
Frequently asked questions
Why do broken links matter for SEO?
Broken links send visitors to dead ends, which hurts trust and conversions. They also waste crawl budget and can signal a poorly maintained site, so fixing them keeps both people and search engines happy.
How many links does the checker scan?
The tool checks the links found on the single page you enter, up to a sensible limit, so it stays fast and fair to use. For a full site crawl you would want a dedicated audit, which I can run for you.
What should I do with a broken link?
Fix the address if it has a typo, point it at the correct live page, or remove the link if the target is gone for good. For important removed pages, set up a redirect to the closest relevant page.
